Federico Higuain will undergo ACL surgery, and will miss the rest of the season. Massive blow to the Crew. Season doesn't seem to be getting any better.
BREAKING NEWS!| Crew SC have signed David Accam from Philadelphia in exchange for 100k in TAM, 400k in GAM and a international roster spot. Accam has proven to be a dangerous speedster who can put the ball in the back of the net with his time in Chicago and Philly. Will most likely be our replacement for Meram. Another Ghanaian to add to the family! Welcome King David Accam!
Meram's second stint with Columbus and we just couldn't figure out how to bring the old Meram back from 2017,16,15 or 14. He has been a club icon for Columbus and will be missed.
the columbus crew have signed 29 year old costa rica midfilder david guzman from the portand timbers in exchange for a international roster slot to the timbers. david guzman had played 39 games with the timbers scoring 4 goals and will be reunited with former head coach Caleb Porter !!!
The season is still young, but for #Crew96 who else is gonna score besides Gyasi Zardes? Zardes is probably going to have w good season but not as good as he had last year where he scored 19 goals. Someone else needs to take pressure off of him and score some goals themselves. For me at this point we all know Santos is not a goal scorer. So we need players like Justin Meram, Robinho and Niko Hansen when he gets fully fit to bring in some of the goals that we were missing last season. Who will it be? Who do you guys think? Does Higuain start scoring more too? Or do the Crew need another signing in the summer? We do not want to have the same problems as last year when down the line we can't score. What do you guys think? Discus in the comments below!
BREAKING: Crew announced new tv deal this season signing with Fox Sports Ohio! Everyone in Ohio will now be able to Columbus Crew matches now in 2019!
BREAKING!: Columbus Crew acquire 400k in Allocation Money from FC Cincinnati who acquire the rights to former Crew winger Kekuta Manneh.
After only one season in Seattle, Waylon Francis is coming back to the Crew! Francis was with the Crew from 2014-2017 and was a MLS all star in 2015. This is a great signing as Francis has proved with the Crew in the past to have excellent performances with the Crew in the past.
It's no secret that Santos hasn't lived up to expectations for the Columbus Crew. Signed in the summer of 2017, Santos helped boosted us to a deep playoff run that year but after that 2018 was a subpar year for him. In 2018, Santos appeared in 33 matches in which he started in almost all of those games, only to put up 1 goals and 4 assists. And for a Designated Player that just simply isn't good enough, do not be surprised if the Crew downgrade him from his DP contract just like they did to Jonathan Mensah when he wasn't preforming.
Now you don't see Crew fans blasting Santos on social media because its not like he is worthless. Just because Santos doesn't show up on the stats sheet doesn't mean he is terrible. Santos is a very hard worker on the field, and uses his speed to get by defenders as he is both left and right footed. He has great vision and can dribble pretty well and put in some good crosses at times. So whats the problem? He can't finish, which is why his stats are very low. Santos can be the hardest worker on the field but the end product just never happens, which is frustrating because of the level of talent that Santos has.
Santos may be out of the starting lineup in 2019. Not only we have a new manager, but also the arrival of Brazilian winger Robinho may take Santos spot on the wings. In addition, it looks like it's maybe Niko Hansen's time to start as Niko had a tremendous 2018 season. Even if Caleb Porter starts with Santos on the wings in the start of the season, he is under more pressure than ever to preform. Will Santos get another chance in 2019? Or is his time up?
it's been rumored for a while but Robinho has finally been announced! Robinho is a speedster that will hopefully help the Crew contribute goals in 2019 from the wing, which was something the Crew need to improve on in 2019. Welcome Robinho!
